London commuters face second day travel disruptions

Commuters in London experience continued travel disruptions for the second time due to the heaviest snowfalls that only occurred in the city after 18 years.

Delays are expected in the rail routes but Transport for London (TFL) said that buses and Tube services were mostly back to normal operations. However, some problems were still unsolved and drivers were also warned of the icy roads.

People who have flight schedules were advised to call their airlines before going on board.

The maintenance teams have been working all night to repair the crippled rail network in the South East. According to the Network Rail’s spokesman, a better service will be implemented today compared on Monday.

He added that delays are expected because of slow transportation since train drivers take in extra care for the road is still a little dangerous. Also, the spokesman said that services from Kent and Sunnex to London will resume.

On Monday, all buses in London stopped operations; but TFL announced that services will fully resume on Tuesday.

Moreover, the district and bakerloo lines on the London Underground were suspended on Tuesday.

TFL reminded the public to check its websites and listen to radios for updates on the transportation conditions.

Moreover, almost 800 flights at Heathrow were cancelled on Monday. A spokesman from the British Airways said alterations would only create more problems.

ondon Mayor, Boris Johnson, admitted that the city was not prepared for such heavy snowfalls, but he later clarified that investments in snow ploughs must not be a major consideration since they can only be useful once every two decades
